Top 5 Reasons You Don't Score Lower

Find out why your scores aren't as low as you think they should be.

At TPP, we know what it takes to shoot to lower scores and we can help you in every area. Here are the Top 5 reasons that we see on a consistent basis that can prevent you from hitting you goals.

  1. Inefficient Practice- This #1 for many reasons. Some ways that this might be relevant to you are: practicing with too much concern on your swing mechanics and not enough time spent on hitting real golf shots, not simulating the shots you will see on the course, not simulating a actual tournament shot from pre-shot routine to finish.

  2. Lack of Preparation- Are you playing a course you have not seen yet? Have you taken the time to evaluate the best tee shot options on each hole? Is your game plan tailored to the course you are playing? If you haven't put a little time in to look at a new golf course, chances are you are not going to be prepared to shoot your best score.

  3. Lack of Understanding of your Game- You need to be able to have some realistic views of your game and the types on shots that you can pull of on any given day. If you know you have a certain miss in play to start the event, you need to have a plan of attack to handle that miss and still get around the golf course in an efficient manner. You don't need to be perfect to perform well, you just need to know what to expect and plan for it.

  4. The Scoring Zone- Here we start to get into a place where some skill and technique training may be needed. When you get inside 100 yards, you need to be able to get the ball close enough to the hole to have realistic chance to make the putt. If you hit an 80 yard wedge shot to 30 feet, even though you are on the green, that does not do you any good as the putt will be difficult to hole. If you want a chance at breaking par, these are the shots that you have to be very good at.

  5. Holing Putts- You hear it all the time, "Drive for show, Putt for dough." While this can be over stated sometimes, putting is a vital part of the game. A lot of times, we miss putts due to a bad mindset, poor green reading, or just a bad stroke. Regardless the reasoning, we need to identify the problem and practice the changes in an efficient manner to see improvement.

We hole these areas of focus are helpful in looking at your game. Stay tuned for some tips to address these areas and see some improvement in your game.

All the best,
